3 Bedroom House in Venice Canals, Los Angeles
Character and tranquility abound in this charming bungalow on the Venice Canals, one of the original 1910 homes in this historic area, updated with modern conveniences. Enjoy the quintessential California lifestyle with perfect indoor/outdoor flow. Pitched wood-beamed ceilings, plentiful windows, and a skylight bring in abundant natural light throughout the space.
If we were guests, here are the things we would want to know in advance. This is in the spirit of full transparency regarding some of the parts of the house that one might want to know about in advance before committing.
1) The third room (Office/Nook/Small Bedroom downstairs). This bedroom has a new, modern couch that turns into a bed. As you can see in the picture, when the bed is being used, it takes almost the space of the whole room which leaves little room to move around the sides of the room at all. It is very cozy and charming, and perfect for a teenager or someone who is into that kind of thing, but not for someone that needs lots of space. When the bed is inside the couch, the room is fairly spacious, and a great place to sit and have some tea, lay in the nook, and have easy access right into the porch and canals.
2) If the upstairs bathroom gets humid at all, the two ways of letting air out are by opening windows in the bedroom, or the skylight in the bathroom using the stick. The bathroom itself doesn't having a window.
3) We have no control over how high the water is on the canals. The city controls this by opening the gates and letting water in and out depending on the day and season. Sometimes the water is very low and its muddy (which has its own charm if you're like me), and sometimes the water is high which is of course stunning. Please know in advance there is no way to guarantee what days the water is high or low and hope you can appreciate the beauty of the canals in whatever state they currently are in.
4) The porch is surrounded by two of the more beautiful trees on the entire canal, arching over the house with finesse and character. Because of this the porch will have pine needles and leaves scattered throughout. The porch is cleaned once a week and before guests arrive, but the natural elements will have their effect pretty quickly thereafter.
These are little things that come with an older house, but for us they add to the experience and charm of the house. We hope we get to host you and give you a unique experience, and the peaceful getaway that you are looking for.
