Summary: Restored farmhouse on the outskirts of town. Beautiful area. House has four or five rooms and ample parking for all guests. A lot of the breakfast items had been finished (things like a tablespoon of skyr left in the tub) but overall the breakfast items provided were decent. The house is lovely and the rooms are really nice. But it isn't (as I was led to believe on hotels.com) a hotel. It's more like an air B&B

Summary: This is a very homely set-up with a friendly host, Anna. The sitting room is comfortable and the rooms welcoming.
Just a few quibbles grated during the stay - why no real milk? There were vegan and lactose free options, but not proper milk. I bought my own, but really shouldn't have to do this. Also - why no butter? Butter is an absolute staple for breakfast, so having so little that it ran out for most of us at breakfast was not great.
Then, be aware you will have to be mobile to get up those stairs, which are more like a stepladder. I had a broken toe so had to be very careful of placing feet - however I loved it because of the character it gave so this is not a complaint, however, it's important to be aware of this in case you have some mobility issues.
The rooms are quite small, with no room for luggage unless at single occupancy - so be prepared - but I loved the homely feel and decor.
Finally, while having a shared bathroom worked better than expected, at full capacity the second floor is 7 people, so 1 bathroom is optimistic - luckily, during my stay we were not at full capacity.
All in all I would definitely recommend, but not perfect.

Summary: The house was very quaint. It is old, so it makes a lot of old house noises, and you can hear everyone else in the house talking and moving around. Other guests did not respect the “quiet hours” so it was difficult to sleep. The bed was older as well. Breakfast is make what you can find in the fridge and from what is on the counters.

Summary: Very welcoming, with food available in the fridge and comfortable common living space. Noisy at night, could hear person in the room above us snoring.

Summary: This is a former Postmans Station House near Borgarnes. Lovingly renovated according to plans and photos. I was the only one there and I loved everything about it! The breakfast was self-serve and abundant. There is a Bonus and Netto in town if you want to make your own dinner. Be aware there is no microwave. My room included an enSuite, a table and chairs, and multiple beds (I only used the single twin). I spend three nights, which was enough to go to explore the area and take a few hikes. Loved staying here!

Summary: Unique and memorable stay in the old postman’s house. Each room had its own charm, and the host (who was super lovely during our check in) was nice enough to upgrade us to a room with a private bathroom. It’s only a short drive from the west peninsula and Borgarnes, and would highly recommend for anyone driving through the area.

Summary: Incredibly cute house and very nice property. Nice to have access to kitchen and dining area. It is however an incredibly old house, which means you can hear everything - made us very aware of any noise we made - talking, walking, etc. Very glad we stayed here as was a very unique property, just something to keep in mind as felt very aware of any sounds we made.
