There are also several observatories in the area, of which the Lowell Observatory is open to the public. It also holds the honor of discovering Pluto (still a planet in Flagstaff).
If you are coming to Flagstaff for recreation, you will not be disappointed. There are multiple year-round outdoor activities to choose from. From summiting Mt. Humphries at 12.633' or making it to the Colorado River at the bottom or the Grand Canyon, or just a nice walk on the Urban trails or Buffalo Park, there is a variety of activities for everyone.
Arizona Snowbowl is just 30 minutes away for resort skiing and all around that same mountain in the summer you will find a network of trails for hiking and mountain biking for all levels.
