Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The location of this property was excellent; it was close to the harbor, train station, and many tourist destinations downtown. You also had stunning views from the apartment. The host was responsive and friendly through text messages and did her best to accommodate our needs and answer our questions. The condo was styled nicely, and it was mostly clean.

Negative: However, there were several issues with this stay. Upon arrival, it was clear that the property needed deep cleaning and maintenance. Throw pillows and blankets had stains and food stuck to them. Two chairs were slightly broken (legs were falling off) and could not be sat on. The slats on one of the beds had been broken, and the mattress sagged. Some lamps had been knocked over and were all askew, and a glass mirrored side table had been smashed. Some lights and lamps did not work as the bulbs had presumably blown and not been replaced. Hand towel racks and bathroom shelves were broken and hanging off the walls. One power outlet had been pulled from the wall, with an appliance still connected. The kitchen had plenty of plates and bowls, but many stored in the cupboard were dirty and had not been cleaned properly. The entrance-way wardrobe and kitchen sink cabinet had many cleaning products directly on the floor, without safety caps. This could present a severe hazard to young children staying at the property. The bedroom blinds also had cords not secured to the wall, which could present a choking hazard to young children. Further, the property was presented as if it had access to amenities like parking, an indoor and outdoor pool, and a gym. This isn't exactly the case. The parking was an additional expense and not guaranteed. We were told it would be $40 a day, but we were paying up to $62 per day to park underneath the building. This was also public parking, and if there was a busy event at the stadium, I presume it might be challenging to get a spot. This did not happen to us, however. The building also has signs up around the property indicating that the amenities (pools and Gym) are for the use of residents only and not short-term guests. Our host did go out of her way to secure us a fob so that we could get access, but I got the impression that we were not meant to have this, and we felt uncomfortable using it.

Summary: It could be great, needs to be fixed up and clear about access to facilities.
