The space
We’re delighted to share our home with you! We’ve renovated and decorated this historic West End house to be open and cozy all at once. The house has all the modern touches that you expect, to create the foundation of your perfect stay.
The light-filled living room includes a massive TV, separate work station and coat stand (please leave your shoes downstairs), leading into a gracious new kitchen and dining room. Enjoy a family-style meal around the table, or grab a coffee at the bar! The kitchen is set up with the basics and more, so you can prepare any standard meal or get carryout from any of the delicious dozen walkable restaurants. Or, enjoy your repast on the wide Southern front porch! Downstairs powder room also houses laundry facilities.
Upstairs you’ll find 3 cozy bedrooms - 2 queen, 1 full - to suit any group. The largest bedroom includes a TV and generous closet (not quite a walk in, but close!). Upstairs includes full bath with tub.
The house is ideal for small groups exploring Durham, friends back for weddings, big games and reunions, parents visiting their Blue Devils!
Guest access
You’ll have the entire home and property to yourself, including off-street parking for up to 2 cars. There’s also plenty of street parking.
The yard and back porch will be phase 2 of the improvement. You are welcome to use them as they are now, there just isn’t much furniture!
Other things to note
The house is on a busy street, and there are several other homes under construction. There will be ambient noise from cars and some construction activities during your stay.
While the house is completed, the backyard is a work in progress! You’re welcome to use it as is, and thanks for your grace as we tackle it in the coming year.
As stated in the house rules, there is an automatic minimum $250 service fee for any violations of house rules that require additional cleaning and/or cause damage. This is our home away from home. We have tried to make it comfortable for you and for us, and have been thoughtful in the amenities we provide. We appreciate you for exercising the same level of thought and care when staying here.
One request: PLEASE keep all shoes downstairs - it helps us keep the carpet clean for all our guests.
While we are happy to host families, please note that the house is not “child-proofed,” nor do we provide any child-focused amenities (no crib, pack-n-play, high chair, etc).
We do ask that guests are relatively quiet after 10 PM, as a courtesy to neighbors. Parties and loud groups are not permitted. Thanks for helping us be good neighbors.
Smoking or vaping of any substances is not permitted on the property.
No pets, please. And out of respect for owners/guest allergies, we request no service animals either. They may be well trained, but they still have fur and dander.
